Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the poten​tial to impact many aspects of Maryland’s government services.

The Office of AI Enablement ensures State agencies are set up to successfully leverage AI responsibly, ethically, and productively. The office creates, coordinates, and executes the State's AI strategy; establishes foundational policies, guidance, artifacts, infrastructure, and processes; facilitates experimentation and pilots in key areas; and increases the State’s “AI IQ” via training initiatives, partnerships, and communities of practice.​

The office works closely with key stakeholders across Maryland, including the Governor’s AI Subcabinet; other State agencies; the legislature; external experts in academia, industry, and civil society; other public sector entities; and communities across Maryland.​​
